HRS&S Announces Benchmarkings and Conferences for 2006 & 2007

The following update is provided by HRS&S to continue the sharing of HR best practices for continuous improvement and to continue to add value to the HR function. Here is an update of our activities. 

ELECTRIC UTILITY – HR METRICS CONFERENCE (EU-HRMG) - 2006 HR METRICS (4-YEARS of DATA)

This is an invitation to participate with +30 other electric utilities for our 4th year of data entry and analysis of 21 common HR Metrics in the electric utility industry.  This year, we have streamlined the process and have developed a web site for all participants for data entry, analysis, contact information and downloading of the HR Metrics/Reporting and Benchmark Presentations. 

Our 2007 HR Metrics & Benchmarking Conference is scheduled for May 23-24, 2007 in Louisville, KY hosted by E.ON U.S. (formerly LG&E). 

NOTE: The EU-HRMG has contracted with HR Strategies & Solutions, Inc to provide group project management and Navigant Consulting, Inc. to provide a web site development, data collection, analysis and reporting. Visit our web site at: www.euhrmg.com.  All electric utilities are invited to participate in either data entry or purchasing the metrics to review and consider participating in 2007. 

ELECTRIC UTILITY – STAFFING & RECRUITING GROUP (EU-S&RG)
This is an invitation is to participate with +20 other electric utilities forming our 3rd benchmarking group.  The Electric Utility-Staffing & Recruiting Group (EU-S&RG) conducted its first benchmarking session (33 attended) on Apr 6-7 hosted by Dominion Resources and Tennessee Valley Authority in Nashville, TN.  We are now in the process of surveying and benchmarking the following areas:

• Staffing & Recruiting Metrics (to improve upon the HR Metrics cost per hire, etc)
• Staffing & Recruiting Organization Charts & Process Maps
• EU-S&RG Charter & Objectives (in process of being formed)
• Project Teams (in process of being formed in the following areas):
  • Diversity (S&R 001-1)
  • Time to Hire (S&R 001-2)
  • Recruiter Workload (S&R 001-3)
  • Costs & 3rd Party Vendors (S&R 001-4)
  • OFCCP Internet Applicant Guidelines (S&R 001-5)
  • Staffing/Recruiting Metrics (S&R 001-6): expanding  HR Metrics above (contains cost/hire, etc)
• EU-S&RG Contact List (of all participating companies: name, title, email, phone number)

NUCLEAR HUMAN RESOURCES GROUP (NHRG)
The Nuclear Human Resources Group celebrated its 10th Anniversary by holding its annual benchmarking conference on April 3-5, 2006 in Palm Beach Gardens, FL.  The conference was hosted by FPL Group.  The 2007 NHRG Conference will be hosted by Exelon Nuclear in Chicago, IL.  We will keep you updated on this conference by October 2006.
